Wasted Ecologies // The politics of waste in the Campania region
This research investigates how Italy’s chronic waste crisis and the marginalisation of affected communities have sparked the rise of urban commons advocating for environmental justice. Moving beyond analysis, the project employs a practice-based investigation of spatial processes to challenge the systemic production of ‘wasted communities’.
Drawing on the reclamation tactics of ‘back-to-the-land’ movements in the Campania region, the research highlights how grassroots collective action creates a vital counter-narrative to state and corporate negligence.
